Abstract

Background: Studying the situation of observance of patients' rights and interaction of those individuals who provide and receive health services are regarded as the most significant and salient parameters of qualitative evaluation of health services. This study was performed to determine respecting patients' bill of rights from the viewpoint of patients admitted to Shohada Ashayer hospital in 2013-2014. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study included 286 patients admitted to Shohada Ashayer hospital in 2013 and 2014. Respecting patients' bill of rights from their viewpoint was determined by a questionnaire. Results: The results demonstrated that respecting patients' bill of rights from the viewpoint of the patients was good in 11.2%, average in 86.7%, and poor in 2.1%. Older age, lower educational status, urban residence, shorter hospital admission, and admission to internal and infectious wards were related to better attitude (P<0.05). No significant relationships were found between gender and history of previous hospitalization, and respecting patients' bill of rights (P >0.05). Conclusions: In total, based on the obtained results ,it may be concluded that respecting patients' bill of rights from the viewpoint of patients is not considered as optimal.
